Introduction to basic drum lesson

I am not a drummer is inspired by people who loves to play drums but too shy to try.  I myself really love drums but it seems it's not for me. Well, as the saying goes "there's no harm in trying."  So here's the excerpts of how I play drums and in this blog, I'll be posting and updating you with some basic lessons on drums as well as parts of drum kit.




I think, there's always a drummer in us because as I can see on children they always love to tap and hit something and create a rhythm out of it.  Even, when we grow old we still got that rhythm and it might not be as fast or active as it was but still we tend to stomp our feet to the tune or tap our hands when we listen to our favourite songs.  Enjoy and subscribe if you like.  I'll be keeping you posted.

learn to play we will rock you by Queen the easiest way

Here in this lesson, you will learn to play We will rock you by Queen in the most and very simple way. There are a lot of ways to play it. But, the one that I saw and feel most comfortable is hitting the kick twice with right hand on floor tom then left on hi tom then snare.  Do it over and over again.  Or, just simple do it with 8th notes on closed hi-hat and then two 8th note kicks and a quarter note snare. Here's a video to illustrate it better. Just simply watch it as well as hear it how it sounds.  Also you can pause the video to see the drum notes.  This drum pattern is very easy and also very useful. Basic March drum beat on a drumkit

The very basic drum exercise on March or what we call 2/4.  You will learn to play a steady snare with kick alternately. This is another useful drum lesson for a beginner, very basic and fundamental in learning how to play drums.  And then in preparation for the more advanced lessons like 16th notes, etc.  I can't elaborate further on this one but just take your time and learn it and be disciplined to practise and exercise this beat. Play it slow and gradually increase your speed on this one. Play loud versus soft.  Be consistent with your tempo.  Play it over and over again. Although this is a bit boring, simple and easy but it's very useful for you to learn and develop your stamina and strength in drumming.

basic drum lesson on 16th notes

Lesson 1 - a very useful 16th note on snare which could be a quick fill in on some songs or could be a part of your groove. Lesson 2 - is another variation for the We will rock you beat that we did but this time we put another 16th note snare before the start of your two kicks.  Just refer to the video. Lesson 3 - I would think you will be stuck on this one because this is one of my favourite drum pattern.  If you add a little bit of your groove into it, you can make use of this drum beat on most of the songs. Lesson 4 - this is a bit tricky one but a very good replacement drum fill or could be another funky groove if you like.  You will have to try and play this one very slow at first and then progress to it. Lesson 5 - is a variation of Lesson 3 but also this is another nice drum pattern which can be a heavy rock or something funky depending on the feel that you will put into it.
