Basic parts of the drumkit

Here are the basic parts of the drumkit that one should know in order to play and understand drums. There are three basic parts in order to play drums and then I would call the rest as accessories where you play it to add flavour and make drumming more interesting.  Here are the three basic parts:  1) The Hi-hat. 2) The Snare drums and 3) The Bass drum.  When you know these three unit, you can already play a rhythm and start a good accompaniment to a song or join a band for that matter.

The Hi-hat is consist of a foot pedal to make it open and close hence some call hi-hat as clapper because it looks like it's clapping.  There are many ways to use it either by hitting it with a stick or use your foot to open and close it rhythmically.

The Snare drums normally is in between your legs and it is a flat drums with springs underneath.  There are myriads of ways to play with it.  Like, hit it with a stick and there are variety of sticks, brush, etc. to use and some even uses hands/fingers during solo.  The spring underneath can also be turned off using the lever on the side of the snare drums making it sound like a new unit in your drumkit.

The Bass drum is the biggest part of your drumkit and I would say makes the loudest and deepest sound.  Also there's a foot pedal on your bass drum which you use or some would say kick to make it sound.

Now for the accessories or extra parts of the drum kit which many drummers alter, meaning they add some more or sometimes remove it from the drum kit are the Hi-Tom, Lo-Tom and Floor Tom.  Then the Crash, the Splash and the Ride.

Here's a simple video presentation about the parts of the drums so that you see it for yourself and at the same time here it.
