easy way to play basic rock beat

This lesson will be your very core and fundamental if you are an aspiring drummer for a rock band.  Most of the rock songs are based on this drum pattern. Also, you can use this on a variety of music.  You will enjoy jamming with friends or even by yourself on most songs in YouTube.

In order to play this you need to play 8th notes on closed hi-hat then start with a quarter note kick followed by a quarter note snare then two 8th notes kick and a quarter note snare after.

There are variations that you can do or improvise on this drum pattern.  One is an open hi-hat for metal or heavy rock songs. Or you can play closed hi-hat and open it on the last note.  Again, always learn by playing it slowly at steady tempo. Then progress and play it as fast as you can. Play this pattern also as soft as you can, hold the sticks as light as you can, you can do a lot on drum mechanics.  Change the feel or groove on how you play this beat.

Here in this lesson, you will learn to play We will rock you by Queen in the most and very simple way. There are a lot of ways to play it. Basic March drum beat on a drumkit

The very basic drum exercise on March or what we call 2/4.  You will learn to play a steady snare with kick alternately. This is another useful drum lesson for a beginner, very basic and fundamental in learning how to play drums.  And then in preparation for the more advanced lessons like 16th notes, etc.  I can't elaborate further on this one but just take your time and learn it and be disciplined to practise and exercise this beat. Play it slow and gradually increase your speed on this one. Play loud versus soft.  Be consistent with your tempo.  Play it over and over again. Although this is a bit boring, simple and easy but it's very useful for you to learn and develop your stamina and strength in drumming.

basic drum lesson on 16th notes

Lesson 1 - a very useful 16th note on snare which could be a quick fill in on some songs or could be a part of your groove. Lesson 2 - is another variation for the We will rock you beat that we did but this time we put another 16th note snare before the start of your two kicks.  Just refer to the video. Lesson 3 - I would think you will be stuck on this one because this is one of my favourite drum pattern.  If you add a little bit of your groove into it, you can make use of this drum beat on most of the songs. Lesson 4 - this is a bit tricky one but a very good replacement drum fill or could be another funky groove if you like.  You will have to try and play this one very slow at first and then progress to it. Lesson 5 - is a variation of Lesson 3 but also this is another nice drum pattern which can be a heavy rock or something funky depending on the feel that you will put into it.
